Most of diamond granules is embedded in low-grade diamond ore, and rough separation and finery selection and multi-separation flow sheet will be involved. And here is some methods and plants for diamond separation.
1) rough separation of diamond ore
The diamond mining separation is firstly the rough separation to remove most of the waste gangue. Gravity separation machines involved for the diamond rough separation are mainly pan-washing separation, jigging separation, and heavy-medium separation. All three methods work on density difference between diamond and waste gangue. And during the three methods, jigging separation is easy to operate, with its high recovery rate of +97% and good enrichment efficiency. Diamond jig separator has a large handling capacity and no requirements about the water quality.
2) Fine selection
There are many methods for diamond separation, and the commonest ones are ointment separation and X-ray separation. Ointment separation works on difference of lipophilicity between diamond and gangue with its good separation efficiency, high recovery rare and complex operation. X-ray separation can separate diamond with high efficiency, 100% recovery rate and automatic operation, but high equipment cost.
Trapezoid jigger for diamond is kind of gravity separation machine with water as medium, and separates on density differences between diamond and gangue. It has four independent jigging chambers which can be adjusted independently with its trapezoid section. It is also can be used in beneficiation of hematite, limonite, alluvial gold, tin ore, tantalite, mercury, fluorite, barite, celestite etc. with its high recovery rate and goof beneficiation efficiency. And it can be also used to recover metal alloy from smelting slag.
3) Ointment separation
Working section of vibration belt ointment separation machine is separation adhesive belt, and this belt is the belt around the preliminary pulley and tail pulley which presents a certain angle with the horizon. And the angle can be adjusted according to the feeding size. Diamond ore is fed to separation belt through vibration feeder, and there is water pipe on the separation belt and the oil-coating box is fixed at the end of the tail pulley, and it will make the heated oil on the moving separation belt. There is an electronic knife to remove the ointment with diamond granules. The ointment with diamond will be de-oiled to gain diamond concentrate. And then diamond can be gained after hand-selection while the gangue which cannot be attached to the oiled belt will be washed away to the tailing slot.
The improvement of ointment separator by installing kind of vibration device increases the touch times of diamond granules and ointment and improves recovery rate. And also the handling capacity has been increased by two times of original capacity.
